Here is a tube fly for the Norwegian salmon:

Tag: Oval silver tinsel
Tail: Yellow fluoro fibres
Body: 2/5 grey/silver minibraid, 3/5 black polar dub (Hareline)
Rib: Oval silver tinsel
Hackel: Black rooster
Throut: Black hen hackel
Wing: Yellow foxhair, Grey foxhair, a few fibres of pearl angelhair and black tempel dog.
Sides: Domestic junglecock

The pattern is a darker variant of Silver Grey.

McIntyre,

Really superb tie; you nailed the proportions, and the color scheme is way cool.

Question for you:

Do more Scandinavians prefer tubes WITHOUT coneheads (i.e. Hakan Norling's TempelHund) or WITH coneheads to balance the fly (i.e. Mikael Frodin's Greenlander, Phatagorva, and Mikkeli Blue tubes, etc.)? Cheers, TB

Many do prefer tubes with conehead. I tie some with and some without. For fishing at night with the fly just below the surface I prefer flies without cones.
