I got my first Northern on a fly today! It was my first "real" pike i have ever caught including on spinning rod. I usually get the 12" on the spin. But it was soo much fun then i added 4 16" to 20" smallies!
Very cool Josh! Funny, a bunch of us were talking about trying pike on a fly last night. For a teenager you sure seem to be a dedicated angler. What flies do you like - dahlberg divers maybe?

I use some home made flies i made. I live to fish hunt and play hockey. And the other normal teenage stuff but i fish about 4 times a week. at least this time of year other times of the year its more like once a week becuase of school i have to go furthur those times. I live on grand island in the middle of the niagara river so i have great fishing all around me.

I remember my first fly-fishing pike... I caught it in the Cuyahoga River, in Geauga county in Ohio.
The Pike measured 36.5 inches and weighed around 15 pounds.
I used a large mickey-finn (#8 hook) and an Orvis Spring Creek, 5 weight flyrod...
The pike was only 15 feet away when I seen it strike.... :)
What a splash it made.
I use a thunder creek pattern too for pike.
I can't wait to catch my first "BIG" fish on my new one-weight fly-rod...
Best of luck
