Hey Sparkey looking at the pictures reminds me of the old logging stories my Grandmothers second husband used to tell. Al Rose was born and raised on the banks of the Skykomish over 120 years ago. He claimed they lived on salted salmon bellies and potatoes. (Chewing tobbaco too).
Al claimed that as a young fellow he was a bucker and they were doing a job down around Carnation the fallers had been working for awhile and had several really big trees down that he and his partner were to buck up in to lengths. They showed up and had to retunn to the camp to get the blacksmith to marry a couple of saws together there first cut up from the butt of the downed tree was 22' in diameter. They apparently were "Old Growth Douglas Fir" :whoa: Imagine a tree a couple of feet bigger in diameter than a full sized pick up is long!!!!!
Any way great pics.
Someday I might even get to get out fishing again!!!!
