: Surface Fly Swap - Sign Up Sheet

With apologies to Mike (for shamefully lifting his swap rules)… here are the guidelines for the surface fly swap:

1. Poppers, bangers, gurglers, sliders. You name it: if it floats, it’s in. Initially, I was thinking saltwater, but if you’re a sweetwater aficionado feel free to drop in a terrestrial pattern or – if you’re feeling up to it – a spun deerhair mouse… Use this thread to sign up.

2. Mailing deadline is February 28th. No deadline to sign up. (I’ll email/PM you my mailing address once you’ve signed up).

3. Submit 7 flies per person. Include the recipe, your return address, and $3 to cover postage, packing, etc. (If there is any change left over, we can put it into the forum).

4. Drop me an email w/ any questions.

Thanks & happy tying!

Anyone, anyone...? Looks like it's Juro and me, swappin' flies. No complaints here: suspect I'll come away with some good ones. But, I know for a fact there are those of you out there who enjoy a good surface fly... Doc D, JimW - where are you?

O.K. - I'm in!

How could I pass up the chance to get my hands on a few of Juro's bangers :lildevl:

Bump to follow Mike's lead.

Right now, we've got:

Plenty of room for anyone else!

Just a reminder - still time to join the surface fly swap. Mailing "deadline" is next Monday, 2/28...

Received Grizz's flies over the weekend. Very, very nice gurglers. Extremely nice... On second thought... the box was empty, can you send 7 more?...

I'll see if I can get a picture posted here, and will do the same w/ subsequent others.

02-22-2005, 11:50 PM
2/28? Whoops I'd better get moving...

Tod D

That 2/28 is flexible! After all, the majority of striped ones are still wintering down south. Grizz's flies may be 'gently used' if we get too far into March though...!

02-23-2005, 01:21 PM
I need to get cracking also! I also have a committment on the Carp swap ....

Since I've been getting a lot of grief for the 2/28 mailing deadline (ok, it's been from me...), let's follow Doogue's lead and extend the target date to 3/15...

Grizz wins the prize for prompt submitter as well as quality flytyer...

Phew .....thank's Tod :smokin:

Will you be coming to Wilmington?

If you are I will bring mine with me.

03-03-2005, 08:17 AM
Thank for the compliment but I must now thanks all of you on the forum who have shown me how and styles of the salt patterns. I would not have this knowledge without all of your help. Many,Many,Many thanks for all of this.

fish we must,

Adrian et al,

I was just thinking about that last night...

I am hoping to get to Wilmington either late Saturday afternoon (Pinewood Derby in the am!), or Sunday. I'll post closer to next Friday, but that is definitely an option if folks want to hand off flies there. Even if I don't go, if JimW is there we could always arrange a hand off as we live close by.

Thats great! I am there Saturday and Sunday.

Actually I just got finished redoing the entire batch for the swap.

Funny how you forget important little things like making sure there's a nice solid thread/superglue base so the popper head doesn't spin around the hookshank! :frown:

They're lookin' good now though - just got to finish the eyes and I'm done - phew :smokin:

Adrian - Excellent.

Looking highly likely that I will be there SUNDAY. Weather doesn't look like it's going to cooperate, I've got a pinewood derby extravaganza to attend to Sat am, and my fly show buddies (dad & bro in law) probably won't make a Sat trip up in the snow...

I've got Adrian's, Doc D's, Grizz's and my flies. Juro - how are you looking?

No hurry here, as a certain someone (me) still owes Doogue some big flies and am scrambling to get them to Mike by next week.

03-22-2005, 07:39 PM
We might have a wait a week or two for Juro's stuff. :lildevl:

Tod D

oops! I forgot. That dog... If no one has objections, we'll wait till he's back... I'll still get these out before the spring thaw hits.

Juro - any chance you can still make it in to the swap? Suspect you're up to your neck in lots 'o other stuff...

If not, Adrian,Doc,Grizz (& me)... I'll mail out the flies this Saturday am. Weekdays are tough to hit the PO. I figure everyone gets two of each...

04-12-2005, 09:40 AM
Tod -

I have all the materials but would likely have to wait until end of the month after San Fran. to get these done.

I will leave it to the mercy of the participants

04-12-2005, 09:58 AM
I'm o.k. to wait until May to get one of Juro's specials :lildevl:

Whatever the rest of the gang want to do is cool. :smokin:

04-12-2005, 10:41 AM
i can wait

Tod D
04-12-2005, 12:27 PM
Ok then! Doc's a stickler, but I bet we can convince him to wait too...

Doc Duprey

Not a stickler...just S..L..O..W.

No problem waiting...I am certain it will be well worth it.
