The January United Fly Tyers of CT meeting will be on Friday, Jan 14 from 6:30 to 9:30. The meeting will take place at the Gengras Student Union (room G) at the University of Hartford. Driving directions can be found here:

A map of the universtiy can be found here (Gengras Student Union is building 25):

Since this is the first meeting of 2005, we will be offering registration for those who are interested in membership. The membership fee is $20 per year. Each subsequent meeting is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

We will have tying stations devoted to saltwater, warmwater, trout, and beginners. Materials will be available at these stations for those who would like to try specific patterns being demonstrated and taught.

Please bring tying tools and materials for whatever you may want to tie. If you don't have any tools or materials and are just starting out, that's fine. We'll give basic through advanced instruction and get you well on your way. The group is open to any and all skill levels. As we grow, we intend to get guest speakers and vendors at each meeting.

If you can't make it to this meeting, bear in mind that we have the same room for the second Friday of each month through April (Feb 11, Mar 11, Apr 8). Also bear in mind that after the April meeting, the University of Hartford space will no longer be available to us. For our meetings later in the year, we already have a few locations in mind and are open to suggestions.

If you have any questions, you can ask them here or contact me via PM. This group will be what we make of it, so please feel free to come and get involved.

Mark, congratulations on having your first meeting. Am I correct in that this is the first first?....

We had our first meeting last month, which was more of an organizational thing. Some tying did get done, though.

We're a small group with a good core, and that's what will make it good as we continue to grow.
