Hey JH! Welcome.
Great way to make some hay during the college years. Do you have any scans?
So tell us about Missisppi. I assume you do a lot of bass and they're probably LARGE.
Any salty stuff out in the gulf?
PS - we have a warmwater (bass) and saltwater forums too, hope you fill us in on the fishing from your neck of the woods.
If you get up this way, bring some waders!
I fish for largemouth and bluegill, you may call them bream or sunfish, all depending an where you live. I try to stick to the most swampiest places for good bass and occasionally pick up alligator gar. I do a little fishing for Redfish when i go to florida i throw flies at snook. The largest Bass i have landed is 13 pounds, took him with a St Croix Legend Ultra 8'9 8 weight.
i should have a link up to pics shortly and can email pics. Later

As a life long Yankee I've only had the pleasure of fishing in your neck of the woods on a brief stop over on my way from USAF flight training in Texas to water survival in Homestead, Florida...I got off the beaten path and couldn't get over how isolated it seemed.
The bass cooperated but I got the distinct feeling that I could just as easily found myself near the bottom of the local critter food chain...I'm sure they were just waiting for the right time to make their move for some quality protein!
Its not all that bad where i am at. There is one place I fish where there is not a soul for miles. In fact is it a trail that i have to use 4 wheel drive the whole way (3 miles!). I doubt anyone has fished this place ever, there are alligators in it, and I keep a rifle close at hand. The fish in it are natural bass, There is not even a damn on it. It is my favorite spot. In fact it is my secret spot.Any of yall ever fished in Mossuri. I fished on the white river once, that is my only trout experience.

Maybe stick a few of these in the Canal!

The intensity of the moment is always amplified when You are a lower part of the FOOD CHAIN...where a casual stroll along the shore turns into a sprint for your life! Guns? Gaiters?
Sorta' like standing on those rocks at the end of the breachway when there's big water...gets the blood flowing!
Sounds like you've taken "cast and blast" to a new level. Watch them 'gators, man!
I caught me a good one today, It weighed about 4 pounds. he sure fought good. Anyway, the thing that scares me the most is beavers slappin the water with there tails, makes me jump everytime, especially if there close.

Just wanted to point out that I have several of the jhjh's flies and they are VERY nice! Almost like saltwater flies for fresh water!
