Holy macaroni,

Have you guys seen these new Ultimode reels that Henschel just brought out....or that other GIANT (like an alvey) they just introduced? Very cutting edge work.

They only other reel that gave me that instant "absurd build quality" feeling was a Vom Hofe 4/0 salmon reel.

No interest on my part, but I thought that it's good for us to see the bleeding edge of the state of the art as we make our comparisons!

google: henschel

Now, I just need to rob a few banks to afford them ;)

I'm also awaiting the day when a major manufacturer makes a true dual mode reel...

Didn't Regal -- better known for its vises -- come out with a dual mode reel about 15 years ago?

If I remember it correctly, it was a "true" dual mode reel, but lacked backing capacity.

I remember it to be an AR reel. And for some reason I seem to remember that Right Angle is now making that reel. Could be wrong.

The last affordable DM reel was the Sievert which you can still get from just reels dot com for under $500.

Other than that, there are Seamasters and Henschel, to my knowledge.
