Earlier this year I acquired a pair of Old Captain Gore-Tex Waders, Guide model with "bomb-proof" double layer leg reinforcements. I must say that these are the finest waders I can imagine. They are a lot tougher than the SST+ Patagonias since the Old Captains are 6-layer GTX with this incredibly thick leg "patches". I used them when fishing a small forest stream with thorns and brush on the banks: never had them punctured unlike my Orvis Silver Label breathables. It's just that the extra layer of material limits breathability somewhat if you have to walk a lot in warm weather outside of the streams. But when static fishing or float tubing, they're just awesome: super comfortable due to to the GTX properties (absolutely water proof and breathable) and super tough.
