A good friend just had the good fortune to log yet another IGFA record...
The moral of the story...
BIG fish in the RI/CT area!
Another pal has done very well from the beach at first light...
Multiple keepers on the phly...
Ces les bon temps rollet!

Any more details you can share? I assume it was a pretty recent event since it has not been reflected in the IGFA records.

So maybe using an 8 pound tippet on NM isn't such a bad idea after all.

It opened the eyes of the sleepy boyz at the breachway bait/tackle shop to say the least...and was caught by a gal (I think she already has the 6# record as well, to name just a few)...
An amazed hush fell over the crowd as the scale stopped at 57lb9oz...
I won't spill the beans but...
Live-lined on bunker from a boat in a likely/proven classified area...
I'm tyin' up some more DualTubeHerringPhlyz as we speak...
Target BIG fish on a specific line and, with alot of planning/luck and, after jumping through some hoops...it goes in the book...
They have used this formula for IGFA success in the Keys and Golfito...
I mentioned this to encourage South Country/WatchHill surf assaults...
Better bring the 10wt and check your knotts/leaders/drag!

Not any less of a feat but I thought it was a fly caught fish from your original post. :tsk_tsk: A little dissapointed but still impressed.

You should listen to the man Sean! He just gave you some GOOD advice!
You shoulda seen the ones under the bridge when I was snorkling the other day. Not of the class mentioned above, but more than enough to make your weekend!
Now's the time! If you pull into the parking lot late at night and see my green wagon sitting empty, get your rod and go look for me!
[Hint] Don't look for me out at the tip.
BTW WH was dead Sunday night but all that mullet is gonna get the bigger bass very excited soon.
