so far we have four tiers

if all else fails maybe each of us can do two patters

we need 4 more poeple to make this swap really worth while

11-02-2004, 10:32 PM
ok well i know i could probably get a few guys from another board it that is all right with everybody i we don't get enough here

11-07-2004, 08:56 AM
Just joined and would like to get in on this midge swap if there is still room. Most likely something in a 24 size.

11-07-2004, 10:25 AM
ok thats 5

i think we should just tie two patterns

i'll close this with the five of us

so we are each tying two different midge paterns

a total of 7 flies needs to be tied for each pattern so i can send a set off to the administration

how does mid december sound for a due date?

11-08-2004, 09:49 AM
Sound great to me. I will tie a Black Beauty Emerger #24 and a BWO Emerger #22.

11-08-2004, 01:41 PM
I'll do a dozen tricos and a dozen white midges.

11-08-2004, 09:11 PM
you don't need to do a dozen BA

sounds good guys

11-11-2004, 03:48 PM
So do we have a date yet also how many of each type.

11-13-2004, 10:43 AM
i'll stick with the early jan due date

and 7 of each pattern need to be tied

11-16-2004, 02:26 PM
they 7 each of 2 types then

11-16-2004, 03:19 PM
correct 7 of each pattern

11-30-2004, 09:26 PM
hows it going guys

still working on mine so there is no rush

just pm me when you are ready for my addy

remember to send along some return postage

12-08-2004, 10:25 AM
Finished the little darlings last night. I changed the patterns to a brown mono midge and a KF Black Beauty size 28's. I hate changing flies in the cold winter time. To help bullet proof these flies they have been coated with waterproof superglue. You only need to change flies when you lose one. Hopefully to some large fish after five minutes of jumps and speed burning runs.

12-11-2004, 07:51 PM
well i'm half way done

got some 32 rs2's done for yall

working on some size 20 rs2's also

i believe i have sent my addy to three people now hopefully start seeing the flies com in soon

Got yor addie, but did not make it to the post office Firday. Instead went fishing. Left the house in the morning darkness with my buddy Howie, and came home in nights darkness. One long day of fishing sunrise to sunset. Sorry to say the only one I saw catch a trout was an osprey at first light. The eagles only flew past. It was a bright sunny winter day. A nice cool breeze came up at noon to cool down the 75 degree afternoon temp. Life is tough being a Zonie with only shovel fulls of sunshine to clear the driveway each monring for the winter.

12-12-2004, 09:04 AM
hey at least you got out

trout season is closed here in wi for now but come jan 1st some special waters open and i'm lucky enough to live under 20 miles from one

and it is a midge and scud place

12-13-2004, 12:59 PM
Your lucky there SD, to just reach what you could call trout water is a 3 hr drive one way and closer to five to the better trout lakes, unless I head to the San Juan which is 8 1/2 hr drive. That is the only bad thing about the desert no water.

12-13-2004, 03:27 PM
man thats sort of sucks

i do take a road trip out by my friend who guides which is about a three hour drive

starting to get really excited reorganized and did some work on my midge box the other day C&F threader box

i was stupid and got it from orvis and theirs doesn't come with the slits
i did some cutting away at the foam and got some more storage space in there and also glued in some small magnets hold the tiny dries really well

12-15-2004, 02:04 PM
Went down to the post office today. Changed my mind about mailing out the flies. So you will just have to wait until after Christmas when the long lines of people are gone.

12-15-2004, 03:01 PM
thats fine no rush on the flies

12-27-2004, 10:24 AM
hope everything is going weel for yall

lets start getting those flies on the mail to me or keep me informed of your possition

this should be a good one

01-04-2005, 11:00 PM
Flies mailed out today. Should reach you by Saturday. We have been hit with a winter storm bring lots of rain and snow. If we get a few more like this the lake fishing here could be really good this spring. The feet are starting to itch, maybe dry rot is sitting in.

01-07-2005, 03:31 PM
flies recieved zonie

great packaging and nice ties man those were some tiny ziploc bags

01-11-2005, 09:29 PM
I thought it would help keep the tiny hooks from getting lost in the carpet. Found them at a dollar store.

01-15-2005, 08:41 PM
ok guys lets get these flies in the mail so we can finish this up

02-05-2005, 01:36 PM
ok guys if i get no word from you by monday i'll just swap with zonie i sent the rest of you all emails and pms af ew days ago

zonie hows a 50-50 trade with the flies if i do not get word from the others

02-05-2005, 09:28 PM
Sorry to see this swap go south. I was looking forward to some Back East patterns to try on western waters. I am willing to wait another week for those who are still interested in getting their flies in. But, as you posted no one has gotten back to you so you call it. The 50-50 works fine, your you can just make it 100 per cent swap and I will share your flies with some fishing partners to try.

02-05-2005, 09:32 PM
Apologies... mine sent to sean today.

02-09-2005, 02:36 PM
ok fellas flies are in the mail

02-17-2005, 12:36 PM
The flies look good enough for a trout to eat. There is a winter strom moving in for the weekend. I will have to try and slip away to a lake on the border and try for some smutting trout there in the evening another day.
