: Rare trout & charr species

I just found out today about the existence of a rare charr, the Aurora trout. It was originally found in only two lakes near Sudbury, Ontario. See (http://www.fishontario.com/articles/aurora-trout/). It was pulled from the brink of extinction with only 9 fish. It is now possible to fish it in certain lakes. Anyway, it is a brook trout without stripes or spots.

I would love to fish some of the rare trouts like golden and Apache and aurora trout. Where I am we have some landlocked arctic charr populations - not that rare but I would love to have a crack at them. Anybody with stories about catching some rare salmonids?
