I have my brothers father-in-law and old family friend coming down for his annual dose of Cape fishing. Generally we fish my home stretch on the bayside and chase schoolies from the kayak in the Bass River, which he finds to be a hoot. I'm thinking I'd really like to take him to South Beach/Monomoy but I don't want to overdo it as he's eightyish, albiet a very sprie eighty. Any thoughts on this issue? Please note, that I always start out easy with him but he typically ends up wearing me out.

...the son-in-law "piggy-back" option?!

Rode hard and put away wet...there's nothing like soft sand to teach humility!
Unfortunately, or otherwise...
Most of the Elbow Town fishy places are far off the beaten path...
Phredland is in your backyard with relatively easy access...
Here's an option...
Pack a lunch and sunscreen and...
About half way through the dropping tide, YAK out to the edge and find a place to park...
Drop an anchor for added security and the ability to fish later when the flood water approaches your knees...
Walk/fish the emptying cuts/troughs and the edge...
When the tide bottoms out, break for lunch...
Stake out a major channel and concentrate on the flood and passing Stripes...
When all the sand is gone and it's time to leave...play some more...
When you're toast, get in the YAK and head for shore...
Pretty civilized and good therapy!
That's what I'd do...

Sounds like dejavu all over again but tide is outta phase.

Ya and the southwest breeze in Phreadland will help the inexperienced flycaster.

Fred, not a bad deal to take him on the Rip Ryder and Fish the ocean side of South beach.... easy walk.... and you don't have to go far from the drop off.... and there ARE fish out there..
