Visited the S. Monomoy Rip in a friends boat on Sunday and it was extremely quiet. We fished the area for awhile and floated through the rip a number of times, both very close to shore and out a bit. Had 4 lines in the water including the fly rod with very limited success. Many boats there but few hookups. So, people did not miss much by not being there on Sunday. Sounds like Saturday was the day!

What was interesting on Saturday was that the numerious boats that drifted off the rip, about 50 to 100 yards off from the shore guys were not picking up any fish...so they started to use fly rods and did the same. I have no explaination for that.

It was the secret sauce that we got from the Monomoy Cafe that we put on our flies that did the trick. FishHawk :lildevl:

Either that or the irresitable aroma of John's cigars....

It seemed like every fish taken hit at the very end of your drift no further then 10 to 15 feet off shore, right at the feet of the guy standing next to you :lildevl: The only fish that were taking further out by the rip seemed to be the blues. You had to get down deep too. The heavier the clouser the better......
