Ok, lets schedule something for June...Either a weekend or during the week...but preferably a weekend... A Saturday as the day with a Sunday as the back up. I put this out now to solicite from you guys the best dates for a late morning to early afternoon outgoing tide along the rip. Once I found out the best dates..I will then post the sign up sheet and we will go by the standard rules. Do not use this post as the sign up sheet since we should have the dates firm before we solicit the list...Ok?

June 17 is a good tide so anywhere around this date would be good. Just my .02

6/12, 8:47 am high
6/13, 9:44
6/26, 6:41
6/27, 7:37

These are, IMHO, the weekend tides that allow fishing the best of the rip.

from recollection I would suggest a moon tide - or at least avoid the weakest tides of the month. I remember being out there one time a couple of years back when the tidal push was so weak the rip hardly got established. That was bad enough but the mung hung around all day too.

my .02c

Well checking out Freds suggestions these are weak tides. The date I picked is a Moon tide but its around noon and what we want is an early morning high tide. That's the problem with saltwater it's all about the tide when your from shore.

Timing is tough. Biggest exchange of water (around moon tides) puts the high at between 11 am and 2 pm. Figure you have to leave at about 3:30 to get to the pick up spot, so you miss most of the best part of the outgoing. 7:00 am to 10:00 am high lets you fish most of the outgoing but the tidal range is apt to be at ist smallest. Seems like the trips I've gone on high is around 11 and we have to leave when thing are really starting to crank.

To tell you the truth, I kinda like fishing the surf on the incoming in the am. The timing thing isn't really a big deal to me.

Not sure about that, The 1/2 moon tides are not bad. The hight in feet seems best during the 26 and 27th. The 19 and 20 seems out since the highs are around 2:00...not good. The dead lows on the 26th and 27th are at 12:49 pm and 1:41 pm ,respectively. The 12th and 13th look good also with highs at 8:47 and 9:44 AM. Shall we shoot for the 26 and 27th? With weather a big factor we need to pick the "best" dates and they may not be Maximun Optimums...but those dates look good from a planning and list making time frame. Shall we?????????????

Actually I was recalling one day in particular. What was interesting was the day before I had been out there with Greg and Mike Estey and it was awesome - big push of water and a lot of fish! The following day was official Rip day and I wondered if the Rip would ever form. We had mung all day and hardlly any current.

Maybe its just avoiding the weakest tide in the cycle - either side could be fine?

Just hope we can get one of these to happen this season:smokin:

John, tides on those dates look good, a compromise, I guess. Don't forget to get out there now with the minus tides, and around June 17th. Had Chris and his brother from Maine out this a.m. on the incoming at a familiar location. Chris landed one about 30 inches, and the rest were schoolie variety, but lots of them.

Don't think tide. Think current. The current doesn't get ripping there until at least an hour after high and I think it is more like two hours after high.
