The first big push of large migrating striped bass arrived like clockwork Friday morning. Schools of stripers roaming the deeper waters around Prudence Island's East Passage suddenly surfaced to a banquet of silversides. There have been massive amounts of silversides feeding on nutrients since last week around Poppaquash Point area. It was only a matter of time before the tables would be turned on them. Pod after pod of various size stripers, some in the twenty-pound range gorged themselves. The phenomenon was unbelievable to witness. It's great fishing that seems to last throughout the tide. All you need to do is drift along with the bait supply. The bait often stays rafted together, if only left undisturbed by running boaters. Stripers just pick away from below and keep the circle of baitfish intact. Fishing remains consistent throughout the day.

As the week continues, conditions are still good for bass. The larger schools of bass have broken up somewhat and contain more fish of equal size. Pods have moved in closer to Rumstick Point and Nayatt Point Light. Expect more fish to move into the Warren and Barrington Rivers and the mouths of estuary systems. Morning tides produce larger fish near sunrise hours.

Good news , they'll be on their way to you know where. Capt. Ray saw that you made the fishing report in the Journal a couple of weeks ago fishing from shore.
