I read Hemingway's "Big Two-Hearted River" for the first time last night. What a great piece of writing. Personally, while reading the story I basked in the warmth of the campfire, tasted the morning's first cup of hot coffee, tensed up mildly as Nick waded deeper into the river and savored the adrenaline released during a battle with a great fish.

Anyone interested in a remarkable read (only a 30 page short story - even lazy readers will enjoy it) should try this story on for size. I personally read the story in Nick Lyons' book "Hemingway on Fishing". That volume contains some very entertaining articles that Hemingway wrote on Bluewater Fishing.

I love that tone too. Talk about "terrestrials".
