Thursday - family for sure, but Fri/Sat/Sun... that's enough to figure out a thing or two about the NC albie fishery, wouldn't you agree?

What say all you never-say-die coastal FF enthusiasts?

I might be able to escape for a really low budget trip. Drive down with the boat & trailer and camp VS fly, stay at a motel, rent a boat or guided charter. If we had 4 people together the costs would be minimal.

I'm thinking budget as well. Not sure about drive vs fly though, the time factor would be a high price to pay. I assume we would need a day to drive down and one to drive back. That leaves one day to fish and I think airfares are really low... gonna check now

230.00 round trip leaving Thursday night and returning Sunday night was the best I found on travel.lycos.com

I might ask for this as an early Christmas present, thus making it acceptable to take off after a couple of plates of turkey. Worst case leave on a red eye or an early bird on Friday, which would allow an afternoon, full day Sat, Half day Sun.

Splitting a rental car and a room would make it very cheap. By shopping at grocery stores for meals, one can eat like a king on small funds. I actually love to cook and if we put any edible fish on ice (blue/bass/bonito/spanish/weakfish/etc) I will cook a cajun seared / pilaf / veggie feast for about $20 split between us.

Don't know if I would bother renting a boat this time around - maybe a member or sponsor will take us for a ride around the area, or else we could stake out the rips and look for bait concentrations.

The whole thing is starting to sound very feasible!

...

All of a sudden fares practically doubled?? In fact each time I go back less options come up with the same dates and destinations... people must be breaking through their travel concerns for Thanksgiving. Good for the airlines, bad for my plans!

Off to continue the search...
