Here is a place to go to for steady and reliable information re. the enviroment. This particular article is about some potential harmful side effects of Nano Tech products.

My only suggestion is to keep your eyes and ears open and watch out for generalizations.
I have been working on some "nano-products" and these are manufactured at the wafer level - sort of like normal semiconductor fabrication. So the nano-widgets are fixed to what for all intents and purposes could be a mirror. You cannot inhale them.
Now - don't get me wrong - there is nothing environmentally friendly about semiconductor fabrication either. We use so many solvents and acids (like HF) it would make your head spin. But these nano-products on the wafer level are not airborne or water borne.
I was glad that the article cited specific examples where nano-tubes etc. were shown to be harmful. The fact is that the nano-robots etc. are pretty far off. Carbon nano-tubes represent a fairly active area of research right now.
The point of the article is a good one. Time will tell in terms of what comes out of all of this.
Thanks for the link,

Interesting reading. I am big supporter of this technology, especially the defense side of this issue. I believe M.I.T. is working on a body suit for the military that is incorporating nano technology.
Though, I do believe that certain levels of safety need to be attained if it is already shown that there are environmental issues at hand.
