I was wondering if any of you had any great panfish flies you'd care to share. My fly box is really hurting for great crappie patterns.

P.S. as soon as i can figure out my scanner I need to show you some terrific looking smallie patterns!

My best crappie flies are those that get down in the water column. Bead headed wooly buggers, small clousers, and conehead muddlers in various colors have always done well for me. It seems anything that resembles a small baitfish will get their attention, and color selection should be dependent on water clarity.

Looking forward to seeing your smallie flies once they're up.

I like green or natural Hares Ear Nympths (soft hackle) or small charlies tied with bead eye's, floss, and flash for the wings.
I'll post some pics when I get home.

Same goes for me; small buggers in white, gray, chartruese, olive, and yellow have been huge producers. My favorite way, by far, to take panfish is with small, bright poppers and terrestrials, such as hoppers and flying ants.

My tops this year have been a BH peacock soft haclke and weighted zugbug. Got four in 40 mins on the way to work local pond this AM. The trick for me is super slow retrieve and knowing that the slight line tension increase is actually a take...
