Well it is getting to be that time of year again, stock your boxes. Just wondering what your favorite chironmid patterns are. Mine would have to be the frostbite chironomid, hard to go wrong.

Does anyone know of an online source for white bead head beads, the ones used for the snow cone chironomid?

Sean, this pattern is very versatile.
Typically, a long leader, straight mono as suggested by Kush, anywhere from 12 feet to 20 feet, based on structure of the lake.
Let it sink then hand over hand retrieve, slow is never slow enough!
Alternate and also very successfull is to cast, sink the fly and slowly move about in the pontoon boat, dragging the fly, hits usually occur on the rise of the fly.
When fish get selective on other patterns, this is the one I go to!
