My friend recieved a new bamboo rod for christmas and I am looking to get him an old hardy to go along with it. It is a 8' 4 weight rod but I am not sure of the make.

I would like to stay around $200. What models should I look at? He is a left hand winder so that is a consideration as well but not a deal breaker. Thanks

not sure how dated this thread is but...a Hardy Princess might be a nice match for that rod. Elegant, light click and pawl reel. Makes a nice scream on the way out. I would want to put it on the rod before purchasing to see how it balances though...

The Hardy Marquis ,
one of the 70s models will do you well .Ive several and they go on and on and look good and my son will inherit them and global warming permitting will fish with them till its time to pass them on to his son
