Great show! Had a very good time.

Lefty sure is the king of casters, still impressing the heck out of us all. I got to throw his new rods, almost as impressive as their designer!

Good to see some familiar faces like Jimmy, Adrian, Mike Mayo just to name a few; although I was often tied up and could not chill out with da' guys the way I wished. But that's what the claves are for.

Had a very revealing chat with Bob Popovics, I am all over that style he developed for the spring herring runs. Mike Martinek was right next to him and his streamers reminded me that I need to get back to Newfound Lake after ice-out to take care of some unfinished business with a big landlocked salmon who threw my hook when I was a kid. Mike is very familiar with the lake and I hope to hook up with him to 'field test' his flies. Dave Skok was there as well and generously gave me a couple of his flounder flies, which you know I will be giving prime time on Monomoy this summer. I picked his brain about big blueback flies for my spring migration strategy with the big rod, really cool having guys like these to correspond with in person at these shows.

I was invited by our soon-to-be sponsor Tightlines Flyfishing of Pinebrook NJ who is also a CND dealer. The response to the rods was very promising.

Another thing that impressed me was the number of skilled artisans at this show. Some of the biggest names in the angling art industry were there.

There is a strong presence of non-profit fishing clubs in attendance and the high spirits and camaraderie of clubs like the Long Island Flyrodders is contagious. Hopefully we can start meeting some of these great groups on the water in 2004, maybe do some trip swaps or something... Montauk for the Cape, etc.

It's a small show but a very friendly one in a fantastic facility at the Western Ct State Univ. A great start to the show season and I am glad I was able to attend.

Special thanks to Jimmy for hosting me in his home turf.
