This is a simple smolt pattern that evolved over my years on Kodiak Island. The Dollies in Buskin Lake there realy attack the fly. Fished very fast, just under the surface, the fish actually creat a wake chasing it!

It's a 8 egg hook, red over yellow buck tail, a few strands of krystall flash, pink rabbit (from strip) for tail. The belly is white thread over the rabbit to creat a "pink" effect.

The picture is at Buskin Lake...I'll post a close up of the fly in a few minutes.

It was a little chilly:chuckle: ...the fly fished best right after and during the ice breakup.

Born in Manitoba, Canada .. or no ... I don't want to be reminded of what that 'term' means.:D

All that aside, I can really see this fly for low water winter steelhead work here in So. Or.

Very nice... I can see by the innovative patterns and frequency of them being posted to the forum that we have a "new" resource for cool flies! Keep it up!
