Still have a long way to go learning this puter stuff. So now let me give credit where it is due;Bobby Hines for the idea to use floating foam worms, Gary Soars for the idea to add a bit of pearl krystal flash to imitate the threads of sperm you see trailing behind the males as they swim. Now for a bit of info on Rhody`s worms, there pink! Not red. And they swarm in the middle of the afternoon, not at night, best from 3 till dark. The females are longer and pink from end to end, the males are about 3 in. and have a black head. Tieing these flies is a snap. The hook in the photo is a Gami SP11 size 2, very strong in spite of being lite wire. The tail is pink marabou with 4 strands of pearl krystal flash. The body is foam colored with a pink marker ( make sure it floats ) tied in at the head and wrapped down and back. The rib is 2 strands of pink ostrich herl twisted to make a fuzzy thread and palmered over the body. The head is 2 strands of black ostrich twisted ( you could add a strand of flash ). A few months ago I posted a pic of the real worms and I can`t put it back up or you could see the likeness. I know this fly will be a killer, come on down to south county when the worms are on!

Was that foam manufactured in the USA? It looks Tibetan to me.:D By the way call the Den, your hook order is in and they can't find your phone number.:hehe:

Look like a winner to me Steve!

Bob showed me some of his patterns on our trip back in May tied on low water salmon hooks which are very light weight to aid bouyancy. They also give any fly a very sexy profile :D

Like you said, pink is the color but we also saw a few pale olive/tan also.

Nice work. Looking forward to catching a hatch with you next spring. We'll have to get together this winter for some tying. Hope things are well.

Adrian, did you say tan? You asked for it , you got it! Or how about one that looks like a real clam worm, orange with green legs? Only limited by imagination and the assortment of markers you have. I had to wait for a delivery of Gammi`s from Nippon.
