: Inflatable PFD recall

Just a heads up for all of you out there that own SOS suspenders. There has been a safety recall on them. Here's the link. (Recall)

Like I always said, I'd never trust one. This is why. Never know when something mechanical like that will fail. Since this is your last line of defense in the water, it's the one I want to work EVERYTIME.

Is this the same recall from a year ago? If so, it only applys to the "Milleniun" model with the pressure activated (as opposed to the disolving pill) "Hammar" auto inflate.
I think that a PFD that's left in the truck is useless. If people are more likely to wear one of these (than nothing), then they are a good thing. I wear one when I am sailing and sometimes on my boat (18').
For white water, sea kayaking or sailing in a dinghy, a real PFD is manditory.
Reminds me of all the people I see riding their bikes with a helmet clipped to the bars. or the fantasy felons riding their two wheeled chrome tractors wearing those non-DOT helmets/beanies. Duh, why bother? Tell Darwin I said "hi". :hehe:

Thanks for the heads up. That link is not working for me but I'll dig around on the site. I wear one of these while kayaking but keep a spare conventional pfd in the back of the yak with all the other saftey gear.

Anyone with an sos - now is a good time to manually inflate it and give it the once over.

Link doesn't work. Please correct link. Thanks from all of us who have SOSuspenders.

Thanks for the update. I suppose the url could change after 3 years. I've since gone over to the newer Mustang model with the auto inflate setup. 5 yrs no maintenance and it won't blow up when I hit a big wave.
