I'm looking to get a chartplotter/sounder for my 20ft Lund I just purchased. I want a combo unit that does everything, gps/mapping, depth/ff...cause I don't have a lot of space on my console. I also don't want to drop a grand on the unit...anyone have any experience with Eagle ?
I found this http://www.brokenlegdave.com/Manufa...ARTER_320DF.htm

and this Lowrance model : http://www.brokenlegdave.com/Manufa...-320_200KHZ.htm

My next question, how difficult is it to properly install the transducer ? I'd like to do it all myself to save $$, is this something that should be left to professionals ?

Any other units you guys recommend ?

Thx.

Eagle is made by Lowrance. Slightly fewer features and lower cost. Units are not sealed as well so you may be sending it back more often than a Lowrance. So if your time is worth money buy Lowrance. They have been around the small boat market longer than anyone.

The transducer will be mounted as a skimmer off the stern of an aluminum boat. That process is easy for the boat owner compared to needing three hands to mount the antenna to the boat rail:D But all in all the process is straightforward.
