Fished the last 2 days at Sugar. Man is that place on fire. Some of the best flyrod top water bass fishing I have ever seen. I had bass on top for over 4 hours on Monday, caught well over 30 bass all of which were 28" or bigger and the biggest measured at 37". Today I went back with a friend and we hit it good again on both tides. Caught easily 25+ fish 1-2 of them were smaller than 28" but most were over. At slack tide we motored east looking for the bones. Made it all the way over to Weekapaug and found nothing but some scattered fish (bass) and headed back west again. Got close to WH and a guy I know motions me over. We go over to where he is and he says right here just drift and wait. So I said thanks and we did just that. Wasn't long before the Bonito made their appearance felt. Bob scored first as I hooked his flyline on my cast and didn't get a shot in to them. He hooked right up and landed a nice 4-5 lb. bonito that was more beautiful than any I have ever seen. A short time later we had a huge school of them come up and just stay up for awhile. We both cast and hooked up instantly and the chinese fire drill began. We landed them both and his was pretty hefty. That was it for the bones today and we went back to bassin.
