Great Gift Idea!

The preverbal question, "What do I buy a fisherman this time of year."

If your like those of us who have been around, the question becomes a difficult one. With newbies the field of gifts is pretty wide open. What we all have in common, regardless of our experience. is the success of our fishing trips. Knowing about fish behavior and their environment becomes paramount to all of us. Do we ever know enough on the subject?

There's a wealth of information and facts in a Book titled, "The Fisherman's Ocean," written by Dr. David Ross. A very well written, informative source, you will spend hours reading for your enjoyment. The book is a great source to refer to when all other tactics fail.

Dave, an area resident of Falmouth, has expanded on his fishing experience, knowledge in the oceanographic field and has also enlisted the help of other noted fisherman and charter people. In short, most of the material in his book was collected locally in Southern New England so all the information is apropos. Dave has also given credit to many of the fisherman you might encounter on your Cape trips as well as weekly contributors of this board.

The book is available on line, at some book stores and other fishing stores. Published through Stackpole Books.

Retail cost: $19.95

For those who are interested, the (I think it's a Borders) on 132 in Hyannis had some signed copies when I was in there the week after Thanksgiving. Lot's of great statistical and functional info as seen through the eyes of an avid SWFF.

I also pickd up a copy of a book "Whitefish Can't Jump" by Thomas E. Donell Jr which was a very fun read.....
