Fish was caught by sight casting to surface feeding schools of reds in 3 feet. The fish were blasting on swimming crabs ( I guess the crabs were trying to spawn?). Fish ate a silver Johnson spoon right off the top. The flyfishing implications are pretty obvious for a guy that can deliver the goods long and fast with a 10 weight. Ran and ran. Bottomed the scale on a 30 pound Boga Grip.

Gordon,
That is a beautiful fish. My Dad used to go down to Florida after he retired in the winters to fish until it got warm again up here. He caught alot of nice redfish but his biggest was a 48" 38 lber. , man what a pig that fish was. I have the pics somewhere here in the house and I will look for them and post a shot if you are interested. Lost Dad last year to cancer but he will always be on the water with me forever. He really loved redfishing, he even got into castnetting his own bait. He also caught a 33" 11 lb. Spotted Sea trout while down there another monster. Thanks for sharing the pic.

Tightlines,
Mike Mayo
