I stayed at the Chatham Highlander on Rte. 28 one weekday this past June. Very nice basic motel. Clean and well managed. No complaints. But, it may be a little pricey this time of year.

I am by no means an authority on the topic, but there are cheap places if you are looking for a place to tie flies and hang up the waders on busy stretches of 28. If you are coming with your wife, you might consider better options like some of the very nice B&B's.

I pass the Stone Horse on 28 in Chatham near the Harwich line frequently and it looks like a very nice place to stay with family. It's definitely popular and often sold out, but still looks like a place you could get into without a ton of advance notice.

I like the Chatham Shores Motel for an out-of-the-way waterfront place that is not ridiculously priced. It's on the Nantucket Sound side off 28 before you get to the rotary.

We did a spring conclave at the Anchorage on the Cove in Orleans just off the rotary, very highly recommended. Great rooms, and the fishing right out front is great.

Forgot to ask... what area are you planning to fish?

When we get overflow at my folks' house in W. Dennis. We normally tell folks to stay at the Huntsman (508 394-4515) on Rt 28 in West Dennis. They are cheap/clean. He has a pool and some rooms have a kitchenette. It is located just North of the Rt 134 and Hwy 28 intersection, on Hwy 28. It will take you 15 minutes (at 7:00 am) to get to Chatham Light house, if you don't stop at Duncan Donuts!

Eddie, Try the Holiday Hill Motor Inn, Rt 28 Dennisport/Dennis area, exit 9 of Rt6, when you hit RT28 it's a mile to the left. Rates before/after season are $39 a night, 69 during the week in season, more on weekends. Roomy, clean and only 20 minutes from the light INCLUDING a Dunkin Donuts stop....about 200 yds away :-) And #7 is next to the ice machine....take as a last resort:) They have a web address under Cape Cod Lodging.

on the low end, seabreeze and seafarer. you get what you pay for. but clean and perfectly fine when you're out fishing 20/24 hours anyway. good locations. small fridge. tv. a/c etc.

if you're going to be down for the whole week, you might check into some of the rentals. you can find them suprisingly cheap. and you buy yourself a little more comfort. kitchen. and perhaps a room for the baby depending on what your plans are.

I usually stay at the Dolphin in Chatham which is a bit pricier than some of those out of town. I stayed at one in Harwich last year which was very reasonable with an Irish pub within walking (staggering) distance.

Nice thing about the Dolphin, 0.6miles to the lighthous steps :D

Stay in Harwich. It's cheaper. I won't divulge names because all of my favorites are always sold out  Highly reccomend the 400 club for casual dining - you will not be dissapointed!

Stone horse is nice but you will need to make a reservation rather than driving up and down 28 day-of which is what I usually do.

Family & I stayed at the Hawthorne. It is on the water at Chatham Inlet. A bit pricy, but you can walk (5 min.) to town & Squires AND you can fish out front on the property! Walking distance to light TOO! Can not beat the is spectacular.
