I have been heading out to Fairfield almost nightly after work in the hopes of the Full moon and stronger tides would get the fish to show. As usual my calculations where wrong. Dunno what happend to the fish but they havent shown in any numbers yet. Getting rather frustrated with the whole thing. The only glimmer of hope I had last night was 2 bite offs on 6 inch white and olive Decievers. I would like to think they where nice blues since all I felt was a slight thud before it swam off with my fly. I just dont want to believe they were little 1-3lbers, but more than likely thats what they where.
Did you also have a look around Southport/Wesport at all? There was supposed to be a big school of bunker holding off Burying Hill/Sherwood Wed-Fri last week. Reportedly big blues and a few nice bass under them. Didn't get a chance to investigate myself. Think there are better numbers of 26-30 inch blues around so wouldn't assume they were all little stinkers.

I myself as well as others have been pounding the beaches from Norwalk up to Fairfield and beyond with limited success. I ahve heard of the bunker schools off Bridgeport, Southport, Norwalk and the influx of the Sand Eels throughout the sound. Unfortunayely not many guys are picking fish up inshore... seems as if most of the action is happening out in the rips and deeper water. Although a few comrads of mine did hit last week with some sizeable fish from the reef but since then its been Skunk-O- Rama. Will it get better??? We shall see
