new Windcutter line. (PS: the 4/5 WC on Meiser light switch cast rod is a treat!)

Also many thanks for the sections of the heavy braded line; I'll need it. Yesterday J D Jones and I were on the upper Rogue first chasing trout in the Holy Water .... I missed one, he caught one .. but fishing was deader than a doornail. Stong winds didn't help but the birds were working a hatch over like a dinner bell was ringing. But almost zero rises from the fish. Go figure.

Anyhow, we moved down stream and pulled out the Big Spey rods to chase the spring kings and a lost soul summer run. I started with a 10wt Scott rigged with a cut back 10-11 Aclrtr. for a launcher line. I'd cut back and put on one of the Cortland large size loops on the end of this to connect a 300 grain Big Boy.

About 10 minutes into this thing the BB goes under a rock (first time for this) and hanges up like it had wrapped it's self around the door knockers to the gates of hell. Really large rocks in the upper Rogue are fairly unusual and I've fished this section of river for years so who know what's out there ... chunk of tree?

Anyway, BB under "it" and so we back off to pull it out .... and the Cortland loop breaks right in the middle! A new, and not good thing.

Say goodby to $30 some bucks. Yuck a poo ie.

Fred,

It has been 11 years since I wrapped a tip around a rock. Did it with a brand new section of 750 Gr. Deep Water Express on the middle Bogachiel. The loop stayed together; alas, the line broke about 2 feet from the loop ending fishing for me.

It is sure a bummer when something like this happens. Yuck-a-poo-ie doesn't even come close to how it feels!

dating ourselves. Yuck-a-pooie is a 'clean way' of saying a lot of "other words" in the King's English. As in "Anglo-Saxon" English not fit for the company of 'woman folk.' Or did I just date myself again?
:D
