I have had no luck researching a beautiful rod I inherited. It has an ancient tag that reads "Warren Joy rod- Naukeugh Lake. Hand made local antique." At this point the tag looks like an antique. It's a 3-piece 8' cane rod, marked "Manufacured by W M Joy No. Ashburnham Mass". I suspect this rod is 70-100 yrs. old, but that's a guess. It's as supple as could be, though I would hesitate to fish it without knowing what I held in my hand. Can anyone shed any light on this?

You might get some info on your rod at www.clarksrods.net . It is a bamboo rod website with several forums. Although I don't have any cane rods, they are part of the history and craft, and do interest me.
You might want to fish the rod if it is in sound condition, even if it is fairly valuable, one of my friends fishes his cane rods all the time, is very careful about keeping it in the rod tube until he gets to where we are fishing. I have cast it several times and it is alot of fun to throw.:) :)
