Dble Haul

...only smaller. :p

I finally got around to hauling myself down to the CT coast yesterday after work. With all of my attention directed at the new boat and/or pike, I had neglected the spring striper fishing. I arrived in the drizzle by 5:00 and had a great wading spot all to myself. I managed a handfull of small fish, and it didn't really matter what I threw at them.

This spot has never really produced any big fish for me, but I put my time in last evening until dark. The wind died down and the outgoing tide started to form the rip I was looking for. I connected with and lost a much larger striper (about 32") than I had ever taken there before. So now of course my whole view of the spot has been altered....big fish under the cover of makes sense because the flats are very close to the rip and channel I was working.

A mental note has been made. ;)

That Great!
I know a spot much the same as that one. Schoolie city dusk and dawn with some real monsters come in on the high tide at night.

Must have felt good to have connected with something that could damage a knuckle.

I too went to CT last night. Westport Area. First I forgot my headlamp and second my tippet ( luckily I already had a leader on the line ). UGH! Anyway I fished the ebb in one of my favorite spring spots. I saw a few bubbbles / dimples and a few spearing pop but other than that the area was void of life. Didn't see any other bait around. I fished for 2 hours and came up empty:mad: Oh well there is always next week when hopefully this weather breaks.
