Does Whiting size their hackle smaller than most others in the industry? I purchased a pack of size 12 brown Whiting 100's. However, when I size them against my hackle gauge they look more like size 14. When I hold them up against a size 12 hook they seem to be a bit undersized. Is this common for Whiting 100's or did I just get a batch that is slightly undersized?
Actually, Whiting hackles in the 100 packs are the most accurately labled as to size on the market. Hackle should be vever be over the line on a hackle guage. It should be just touching the line or slightly under the line, and Whiting 100's do just that.
