: Croton River - West Branch

Well, I finally got to use my NY State Licence - its only taken me three seasons:rolleyes:

I managed a small Rainbow from the lower portion of the West Branch at Croton Falls and then headed over to the Cross River Outlet. Stunning stream but looks like it gets a lot of attention. I covered a nice rise perfectly, my comparadun emerger was slurped and I tightened. Hmm, good fish - a couple of laps round the pool and then - darn - a big 'ole dace. Must have gone at least 12 inches. The big ones do pull quite well but I would rather have fish with spots ;)

The main thing is I achieved my double dip day: Schoolie Stripers on the Housie this morning and a Trout in sweetwater this afternoon. :D

Ahh the thrill of dace fishing ;). You know you've got the hookset timed properly when you actually catch them. :hehe: Glad to hear you got the double header.
