Was out both Sat and Sun. Picked some small fish but nothing to get excited about.

Hey Wes did you head out? I saw lots of Yakkers in the area was one of them you?

Mike, I went Sunday am to do some recon a couple miles S of Catskill. Didn't get a bump but marked some fish and spot look great. Still early up there but wanted to see it in daylight before going in the dark. I saw a report today a few guys found some fish way up in Catskill Creek otherwise heard weekend was pretty grim all up and down the river, herring sort of disappeared.

Wes,

Scooted down to Piermont last night around 6pm. Anchored 200yds south of the TZ Bridge. Using methods other than fly fishing I landed a 21lber and about a dozen small fish. Lots of action but only landed the one big one.

I may hit Beacon one night this week, maybe tomo. Seems fish are all through the estuary now but I haven't seen bait anywhere I've been so far.

Lack of bait is not necissarily a bad thing when it comes to the Hudson. Lately in the southern parts of the river we have had an over abundance of Herring. With all that bait you are hard pressed to catch anything. Lack there of however creates an ideal situation. The fish are hungry, less opportunity for them to feed so when something is presented to them they will usually hit it. When we hit fish inside Croton in the early part of the season there is no bait whatsoever. The bay is void of forage. The fish are so hungry they will hit a 3 Muskateer wrapper.

I would have to agree since I was catching in March and nothing since. Assumed bass followed the runs of herring when they entered.

Hey Mike,
Just saw a post on BOTH that said you are feeling ill so you must leave work early and have to get to Potato Rock this afternoon. Don't know the reliability but was posted by Vargas the publisher.

Have got alot of reports coming from the Potato Rock area. May get out for an hour or 2 tonight. If not definately tomorrow. Unfortunately this is all "chunk" all the time for now. Everything else is pretty much useless.

Can't tomorrow or I would probably take you up on it. Thanks. I went tonight and got skunked at Newburgh again. Wind was cranking up the river pretty good making it hard to fish but the paddling was good.

Wes,

Inside of Tellers point near "Bucky Beach" the fish have been showing and responding to flies and lures the past two days. Lack of Herring in the area has led them to take juvie herring and killies right in the shallows. Large tails and swirls lets you know they are around. Evidently there is alot of BIG fish in the mix as well as the schoolies. Just an FYI.

Any particular stage of the tide? Might take another ride over there this week-end?
