Managed to swing a fly for about an hour in the upper Bass River. Pleasant late afternoon, top of the incoming. Didn't have a thermometer but the water seemed warm. I was not at all uncomfortable with breathables. I did not see much in the way of bait and the water was winter clear. I'd say we must be getting close but the forcast for the next few days doesn't look promising.
I went trout fishing in Conn. managed to hook four but the water was very cold. Checked the Marine forcast on my new radio the water temps are 41 which explains the lack of activity. Should get better but it will be later than last year. FishHawk
Looks like many of us were desparate yesterday.....took a trip to RI (Bristol), fished an outgoing of a large marsh....no bait, no fish seen, no fish. Water temp was 40 degrees. But was fun to be outside an not raking the yard. If they are not in RI now, they will certainly be late at the Cape. Spoke to an environmental officer, he said that some are being picked up in Compton, but very sporatic. Will try again in a week to 10 days.
