I haven't fished any of these yet, but I thought this season would be the one to give them a shot. Keeping in the same vein as the Super Hair clousers (tougher for bluefish to tear up), I see these as potentially being a substitute for my nice deceivers and bigeye baitfish patterns when gators are around in force.

Hook: 1/0
Thread: Mono
Inner flash: Flat silver tinsel
Belly: White Super Hair
Overwing: Blended teal and pink Super Hair
Outer flash: A veil of pearl Flashabou
Eyes: Prismatic
Head: 5 minute epoxy

This is the pattern as described in Pop Fleyes.....I've added inner flash to it, but the rest is the same. The first dabs of epoxy are applied well forward towards the hook eye, and just before they are completely set they are pinched with fingers to spread the body materials and give them a higher profile. Dipping fingers in Photo Flo will prevent epoxy from gooping up your hands. After the first epoxy coat is set, eyes are added, and the second light coat is applied.

The pattern looks to me like a high tie surf candy. I've done this particular one in snapper bluefish colors, but will be trying many more before I'm through.

Anybody fish this pattern type yet?

Mark, I have not fished them but I have a couple in the archive... I made mine shorter and more "fan" like... but in either case the profile is wide.... and transparent... nice job and I should have tried it last year... But you know, tie 100 different flies and only use a couple... I had to use the photo flow to sqeeze the epoxy......

I fished them alot 2 years ago(before I learned about flatwings). They worked very well. They held up to blues real good. Here is a pic of one I did then.Chartruse over white worked great also.
