All fixed, I think.

04-12-2003, 06:57 AM
COOL! I just signed up.

04-12-2003, 08:31 AM
Done! Fred, you up a little early this morning? Not yet, Not yet!

04-12-2003, 10:44 AM
Hey everyone. I sent Fred the wrong link. If you have already signed up, you're in, no need to sign up again.

Here is the correct page (http://www.flyfishingforum.com/expertise/rodrack/springclave.htm) it will allow you to view the list of participants. If you have signed up for the clave you can login and get the phone list and other hidden goodies like directions or anything else the Meister would like added, You can also make changes if you need to. If you need to bail out just put that in the comments.

Juro or Sean, could you put it up in the sidebar?

I just called the Squire and they told me if were any other weekend they would give us the room but apparently..and I did not know this... It is the "Maritime Weekend" festival in Chatham ..a town wide thing so they expect to be too busy to set the room off... let me think about another plan... of course we could alsways go there just before the dinner crowd and walk right into the back room to use it...

04-12-2003, 05:36 PM
We should maybe give a day or 2 to see how many signup for dinner. I think the "walk right in" plan will be fine if we are 10 or 12, but more than that and we should make a res.
Just my opin. Thanks for workin on the chow plans!
You know how I like to dri.. er eat!

04-12-2003, 11:16 PM
Fred, I hope I`m down for Sat. and Sun. and dinner at the Squire. I can`t use the sign up sheet cause I forgot my password. Got room for one extra in the boat
PS nastiest opening day I can remember and I go back a long way

04-13-2003, 04:37 AM
Make up a password, it's not the site password.

Brian, I'm in the process of transitioning to fishing standard time. Hate being woke up by alarm clocks, but hate getting to the beach and finding the sun above the horizon worse.

Update - As I type this I'm looking out on a glassy calm Kelly's Bay and seeing ripples breaking the flat surface. Don't know what it is but it makes me all warm and tingly.

04-13-2003, 06:51 PM
Warm and tingley? Your beginning to scare me Fred!:hehe:

04-14-2003, 02:33 PM
Case and Roop,
Since Squires is out for Saturday dinner what do you think about the back room at that Irish place in West Dennis that we had the CCA meetings at? I liked all the choices on tap. Do you think it's worth looking into?

04-14-2003, 03:18 PM
Signed up, can't wait.

Irish Pub sounds like a good place to be on a Saturday night to me :D

04-14-2003, 04:40 PM
Fred, The owner is my next door neighbor, I will talk to him, and I'm sure he would be greatful for the bussiness, and YES, the tap selection is right up our alley!:D

04-15-2003, 07:48 AM
Hey Fred - thanks for setting this up.

I will not know my availability as I am in the middle of contract renewals and negotiations with several clients.

Hope to be able to show up with the boat and take out anyone interested. Thinking 2 riders for the AM then switch for 2 new riders for the PM each day.

Those of us who can get down there beforehand should consider scouting. We could each take an area and test fish it to see if we can gather some anecdotal evidence of migration progress.

A thorough sweep would include Rhody, someone in Buttermilk Bay, a peek at what's going on at the herring run, someone on the Falmouth Salt Ponds, another in Poppy or Dowses, one more at the mouth of the Parker in Yarmouth, Bass River trial, Stage Harbor litmus test, the tub from the lighthouse, and Ministers. On the Bayside, Sesuit should be a good indicator unless someone is cleaning out the winter blahs from their motor and can blast out to see if anything's staking out the herring run. If he had this progression of reports we could guess at where the push has reached by the date of the clave and focus our attention accordingly.

At a minimum a Falmouth/Cotuit/Wianno peek plus a Bass River/Herring River probe and a Harding's/tub/Pleasant Bay sampling seems appropriate... anyone have a scout trip in their plans?

04-15-2003, 09:25 AM
I'm signed up too...can't wait!

Is it too early to start discussing a basic arsenal of reccomended flies for this adventure? Will the usual early season selection of bright clousers, deceivers and the like be adequate?

Steve if you're looking for some company on the boat I would be happy to oblige!

04-15-2003, 11:00 AM
Won't get too much of a chance to scout. Will probably take a break from yard work to swing a fly in the channel between Kelly's bay and Follins pond next Monday. Took a look at this locale Sunday am at the top of the tide. Can't say I saw a lot of bait. Lotsa water fowl dipping for somthing on Kellys bay though.

Fly selection, I think, would include a lot of hi vis stuff for the murkey depths. Clousers, Deceivers, etc. in yellows or chartruse.

Anyone fishing on Friday AM?

04-16-2003, 08:39 AM

Great Job Putting this Together!

I would love to sign up, but that date is Very close to my wife's due date, so I probably Cannot attend. But you never know maybe I'll catch you guys out there! Tight Lines!

04-16-2003, 09:15 AM
Greggo, congrats. Sleep now while you have a chance. :eyecrazy:

There's a spot on my boat for you at that late Summer clave;)

04-16-2003, 10:30 AM
CSJ! Tide turns east a daybreak at the Canal on Friday. Could be a good test for a Spey Rod demo by Juro:smokin:

04-16-2003, 10:41 AM
Now for that I would make the drive up from CT :D

04-16-2003, 12:38 PM
I would be up for that... My question was more for Friday May 2.

04-16-2003, 12:48 PM
Hey Jim,

Thanks man. And thanks for the boat trip Offer. Now that I'm shore bound (a.k.a Boat Sleeze!), I'll take most offers I can get. Maybe we can break a couple of Rods like we did last year:tsk_tsk:

04-16-2003, 12:50 PM
I was giving the tide for May 2nd. Sorry if I did not make it clear in the post..

04-20-2003, 06:18 AM
Case talked to his neighbor and we are all set for dinner Saturday night. West Dennis Inn is a cool Irish pub with an impressive selection of brews on tap. Some good tunes later in the evening too.

Looks like I'm going to be able to do some scouting next Sunday. If anyone's up for checking out a few spots let me know.

04-21-2003, 03:54 PM
Fred, Looks like we need "Plan C", My friend from next door came over today and told me that he screwed up and the back room already had a reservation for that night. He did offer us reservations in the dinning room and said he could stick us in the back, he apologised and hope he did not inconvience us. Any thoughts?

04-21-2003, 06:28 PM
Brian, that's too bad. Any other ideas out there? I guess we could always through something on the grill at my place. Then tye a few flies and sample some pogie oil.

04-22-2003, 06:17 AM
The Old Jailhouse Tavern in Orleans has a decent sized bar side set off from the restaurant and beer.

It's close to Route 6 (well, what isn't Orleans though) and the foods top notch too. Just a thought.

04-22-2003, 08:02 AM
I'm Irish....so I vote for Plan C

04-22-2003, 08:28 AM
I'm Irish too, so Plan c works for me. Then again I have been bailed out more than once, so I have a soft spot for the Jailhouse Tavern!
Let's all vote, we gotta make a decision soon, things are startin to heat up here on the Cape and I HIGHLY recommend we get a reservation somewhere. If it were'nt for those damn Irish and there festivals all the time!:D

04-22-2003, 08:41 AM
Plan C. Love all those spigots.

04-22-2003, 07:39 PM
Doc Duprey..your mail box id full...I just sent you an e-mail and you are all set at CAC..

04-23-2003, 06:36 AM
Plan C,
Going once...

04-23-2003, 11:00 AM
Fred, your PM is full, I'll make reservations for 14 or so, we can firm up the # a few days before.
.....Going, Gone!

04-23-2003, 11:51 PM
Nine days to go and the only sign of bass in Rhoddy is holdovers. Don`t mean to be a doom sayer, but what`s your best guess? Everything seems to be off by a couple of weeks. No extended warming trend in the forecast, we could be fishing in empty waters.

04-24-2003, 06:10 AM
Things do seem pretty dire. This weekend looks like a wash out with lots of east wind. I think I did hear this morning that we'll be looking at 60 to 70 degree temps the beginning of next week. Hope springs eternal.

04-24-2003, 06:46 AM
I've had reports of NEW fish being caught on the Cape, with a little warming early next week I think it's gonna explode right on time!:smokin:

04-30-2003, 09:12 AM
Where will everyone be fishing? I am going to book a room for Saturday night and I would like to be in a central location. Any suggestions.

04-30-2003, 09:16 AM
Any hotel between Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich, Chatham or up on the north side from Dennis to Brewster/West Orleans should put you into easy striking distance.

Discussions of spots will continue on the email list over the rest of the week.

05-02-2003, 06:26 AM
Just a reminder that if you've signed up for the kickoff the phone list can be downloaded from the link at the top of this thread. You'll need to login using the email and password you specified when signing up for the clave.

05-02-2003, 10:28 AM
Downright summerlike down here today. Wish it was going to hold up. Anybody heading down tonight be sure to drop over, tie a fly, sample some pogie oil. This afternoon would be even better - see what it's like to fish in relative comfort, probably need your longjohns tommorow.

05-04-2003, 03:15 PM
Well, couldn't join you guys, hope you had more fun than I did this weekend...
