I have "miniaturized" and simplified it. I just use a cormorant Oriental style. You know, a ring around its neck so it can't swallow, and to place a tether line onto for retrieval. Works GREAT!

I need a fresh water model though !

We could sent it into the river mouths and quickly know if salmon and trout were present, and avoid casting for hours to barren water, same scenario for the river.

How about a remote control model submarine with vision sensors back to the fly fishermans polarized glasses flashing fish locations to cast towards.

advanced, state of the art bit of electronics. Also appears that if the 'sound head' becomes 'damaged' you can easily replace it by eating another can of baked beans, wash can and reattach.
