: Weather and The Thaw!

Finally! After starting Friday at 8 degrees and snow, we have had a few days of 50s and 60s here in the southern Lake O. shores.
The tribs are high, muddy and cold with snow-melt runoff, but THIS should start some major runs. I have to take my wife on vacation for a few days, but you can bet I'll be back trib fishing as soon as I get back!

Maybe by then I will be able to see if I still have a lawn under this white stuff! Hope the rest of the lakes and tribs are doing well!

We have a major thaw going, so much in fact we went spey casting the Kankakee just to get limbered up.

Spey casting on the 3K, now that must be lonely ?

You could use that 5 weight 12 footer get casting practice and get some nice 3 -5 lb smallies.

No use for the 5w, rather have a 7 or 8 for the smallies. They deserve a fair fight.

Actually was not alone, my 2 partners were there along side me. It was a great day to unwind the long sticks.

I'll to battle with a 5wt for them on streams. On the flats, a 6wt is perfect....they fight well on light tackle.

You know where I stand Hal, bring out the 12' 5wt....perfect smallie rod on some river situations.

You can get 2 sweet Loops for the price of that one Sage. Probably get more use from them also. How many times would you really use the 5w, compared to a 6, 7 or 8?

The Loops are probably the best buy for the $$$. Just the fact that you can buy 2 for the cost of a single rod makes it worth while.
