: Casting Clave!!

If ever there was a winter to do this, this would be the one :eyecrazy:

Due to impact of budget cuts in Reading and our own very busy schedule, our tentative reservation may be in jeopardy for the Field House / Casting portion of the weekend...

Please let's have a show of hands for people who would attend. We will divide the field house fee by the number of people to see if this will work.

Please respond quickly; we will have a definite from Dave by Thursday...

Who wants to do the casting clave?

Put me down for two people right off the bat...

Sorry 'bout that...

It's Saturday, March 15th. We can't do it on Sun unless we dismantle the booth early.

BTW - this is the same drill each year, Saturday afternoon of the show weekend in the late afternoon (time will be announced once arrangements with Town of Reading are final).

Bring the kids and significant others free, we should have lessons for them and contests as well like usual (details TBD).

20 and a half more to critical mass! We're already 30% there...

I am a tentative definite. I have to check and see if I have to work that Saturday as I start a new job next Monday. I really want to make it to this thing as you all had a great time last year and I would like very much to be part of it again this year. I will let you know for sure Juro in a couple of days.

Tightlines,

Guys, tough one for me. It's St. Pats weekend and I got 4 shows to play, some as late as 2 in the morning. I have to pace myself. I can be counted on as a supporter though, and will try to make it, especially since it's in my neighborhood.
The kicker is, I have a big, brand new kitchen to show off and wanted to host a post clave BBQ. That would be unwise to attempt now since I have go to my other engagement till 2:00 am :eyecrazy:
Oh well, the sentiment was there. Put me down for 1.

I was out snow-casting last week and between random branches, cold line, colder fingers, and all around rustiness, the whole exercise looked like a Tasmanian cluster-hump. For the third year in a row, I'm in.

Lefty, where are you playing and when?

Burren? Skellig?

Oh, by the way, I'll kick in my $$$ too but I don't know if I'll make it this year.

Same as Lefty, work will have me out part of both Sat. & Sun. and all day Monday(starting @ 7:30AM at Doyle's in Jamaica Plain).

My only hope is that I can get my work on Sat. done in the morning/early afternoon and sneak up to the clave for a few hours.

I'll PM anyone interested in the trad Irish music scene. Otherwise let's get this clave going.

I don't know if I can make it - I may be working on our center console in NY - but I will kick in my attendance $ just the same. I was looking forward to casting my newly built 14 so I hope I can make it.

UPDATE:

The time this year will be 6pm start, thus you'll have the chance to take in pretty much the whole day at the show if so inclined.

Capt. Todd Murphy will be making his annual appearance to tweak your casting quirks or train your aspiring family casters!

We'll have a contest again, Dave can you arrange for "the target" please?

More news will be posted as developments occur...

I like the time. Since I can't make it to the show until ~3ish I can still wander around the show until casting time.

My buddy Chuck will most likely attend if you're taking a head count.

Rich - You in?

Hello there;

I'm looking forward to the casting clave. I'm not sure where it is however. Can someone post directions? Also, how much cash should I bring? Will there be beer? Also, do people usually bring a few different rods? Sorry for the barrage of questions, this is my first clave. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Bill

Ask and you shall receive! Sorry, been real busy but I just posted them in another thread.

Because this is a public high school, there is no alcohol allowed. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks Dave, I got so carried away with the directions I forgot the rest of the post!

There is beer served at the Shriners, and at the local eatery right after the clave - but not during.

Of course you may not want to hamper your casting aim because the contest is not all that easy!

As far as cash, we try to divide the rental of the hall by the number of people. I will take a headcount there and we'll pass the hat. The cost is pretty high for such a great hall but it will not be more than $20 and hopefully lower. Bring lots of freinds
