It was brought to my attention that Mr. Chris Windram dubbed his sand eel pattern "deep sparkling sand eel" in 1997, published here:

Although Bob Bianchi handed me the two flies that the current pattern is based on sometime in the mid-80's, it never had a name until someone else asked me "what's it called?"... long after Chris' article was in print, whereby I pulled "deep... er... sandeel" out of thin air.

So out of respect for Chris' beautiful fly and dedicated work in our sport, my evolved version of the Bianchi sandeel is now called the "real eel", if it matters to anyone. What's greatest about it is that it continues to evolve on the vises of the people who like the fly!

Juro not to worry the key word is Sparkling . His fly looks nothing like the ones you tie.I like the new name Real Eel. It sure works like the real eel.
